Support with daily activities, hygiene, routines, and wellbeing delivered with respect and dignity. Personal care is the heart of what City Carers is registered to provide, and it is planned around the person, not around a standard checklist.
A visit can include help to wash, dress, use the toilet, move safely around the home, prepare a meal, and take medication that has been set up for the carer to prompt or assist with, as the care plan allows. We agree the detail with you before the first visit, including who should be in the room and what the person prefers to do for themselves.
Carers introduce themselves, keep to the agreed times as closely as traffic allows, and write down anything the family or the office needs to know. If something changes, such as a new difficulty with walking or a low mood, we tell the people you have asked us to tell.
Personal care can be a short morning visit, several calls through the day, or part of a live-in arrangement. It sits alongside our support for older adults, younger adults, dementia, physical disabilities and mental health, whenever hands-on help is needed.
