Live-in care means a professional carer stays in the client’s home and provides support around the clock, with a proper break built into the day. It suits people who want to remain at home, who need help at night, or who find a procession of different visitors unsettling.
The carer follows one plan: meals, personal care, medication prompts, companionship and the household tasks you agree. They are not a guest who happens to help, and they are not a nurse unless a separate clinical service is arranged. Families keep their own relationship with the GP and district nurses.
In our article on costs we set out typical London ranges of about £900 to £1,500 a week for live-in care, depending on the level of support and the experience required. That is a guide, not a quote. City Carers confirms the weekly fee at the free assessment, before anyone moves in.
The home needs a room the carer can use. We talk about that, about food, and about how time off is covered, as part of the plan. We also arrange visiting care if live-in support is more than you need.
