Questions families ask

Including how care costs are usually discussed in London.

How much does home care cost?

There is no single fee, because the plan follows the support someone actually needs. In our guide to live-in care costs in London we set out typical London ranges: about £900 to £1,500 a week for live-in care, about £700 to £1,200 a week for a care home, and about £15 to £30 an hour for visiting care. City Carers confirms the fee for your own plan at the free care assessment, before any care starts.

What happens at a free care assessment?

We listen first. A coordinator talks with you, and with the person who needs care if they wish, about routines, health, the home and what a good day looks like. We then suggest a care plan, match a carer, and agree fees and start dates. The visit is free and there is no obligation to go ahead.

Which areas do you cover?

Our office is at Moran House on the High Road in Willesden, NW10. We arrange home care in Wembley, Brent, Harlesden, Willesden and the wider North West London area. If you are just outside those neighbourhoods, ask us and we will say honestly whether we can help.

Are you regulated by the CQC?

Yes. City Carers Ltd is registered with the Care Quality Commission, location 1-10240490182. The latest overall rating is Good, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. The report was published on 25 May 2022, and a review on 6 July 2023 found no need to reassess. The registered manager is Mr Mohamed Mohamud.

Is there support outside office hours?

The office is open Monday to Friday 07:00 to 17:00, and Saturday and Sunday 08:00 to 17:00. For urgent help, the same number, 020 8432 3283, is answered as our 24/7 emergency line.

Can care be funded by the council or the NHS?

Many families pay privately. If you already have a local-authority assessment, direct payments, or NHS Continuing Healthcare, tell us at the visit and we will explain how a City Carers plan can sit alongside it. We do not start care until the funding route and the fee are clear.

Do you support children and adults?

Yes. We are registered for personal care, adults over 65, adults under 65, children from birth to 18, dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions and physical disabilities. We also arrange live-in care, companionship and respite.

How do I apply for a care job?

Open roles are listed on our careers page, including Care Support Worker in Wembley. Apply through the external application form linked there. Please do not send National Insurance numbers or identity documents to this website or by ordinary email.
